Hosting a student can be a rich experience. The rewards range from expanding your understanding of the world to discovering a new and valuable friend. Personal friendships with international students contribute to better understanding between countries and encourage a peace oriented worldview.
We offer two hosting options. In our full time home-stay program your student is part of your family 24/7, sharing in all of your family life and Christmas celebrations. The only required activities for you and your student are the Lancaster County tour and the International Dinner. When you are a full time host, we expect that an adult family member will be either available to or be with the student at all times. Full time hosting is a wonderful opportunity to build a solid friendship with your student.
Our part time hosting is a great option for working families. Part time hosts have their student in the evenings and on Saturdays, Sundays and the Christmas and New Years' Day holidays. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve days are negotiable, depending on the family's work situation. Part time hosting means transporting your student to the activity center at Hinkletown Mennonite Church in the morning and picking them up in the evening before supper. The only activity required of a part time host family is the International Dinner.
